Description

Amazon's Global Tax Organization is looking for a Senior Program Manager to lead the Tax Audit Program within Global Tax Services (GTS). This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role responsible for transforming how Amazon Tax prepares for and responds to tax authority examinations across 100+ jurisdictions worldwide.

Amazon faces a rapidly growing tax audit landscape, with tax authorities deploying increasingly sophisticated data analytics and AI to scrutinize multinational operations. This role will own the end-to-end program that shifts Amazon Tax from reactive firefighting to proactive audit readiness at global scale.

Reporting into GTS, you will serve as the central program owner accountable for interconnected workstreams:
- Driving 100% Tax team adoption of GAIA—a unified audit management platform—and gathering global tax requirements to define clear roadmap for its enhancements
- Partnering with Accounting's Audit Readiness Program (AARP) to establish standardized financial data delivery for tax audits
- Operationalizing the Tax Audit Readiness Champions (TARC) network to scale tools, processes, and learnings across all Tax teams globally
- Identifying and/or supporting new or existing workstreams that build scalable tax audit readiness capabilities for the future.

This role sits at the intersection of tax operations, technology, and data—requiring someone who can translate between technical teams (FinTech, AFFS, InTech) and Tax business teams (Controversy, Compliance, Planning, FRC) with equal fluency. You will influence without authority across a matrixed global organization, drive adoption of new platforms and processes, and establish the governance, metrics, and communication cadence that give leadership visibility into audit readiness posture.

Key job responsibilities
GAIA Platform Adoption & Enhancement
- Own the program plan to achieve 100% Tax team onboarding to GAIA
- Partner with FinTech to define, prioritize, and track GAIA feature enhancements—consolidating requirements from all Tax teams into a single prioritized roadmap ("one voice").
- Establish governance for enhancement intake, drive executive dashboard development, and support AI integration as needed
- Track and report adoption metrics, identify barriers, and implement change management strategies to ensure sustained platform usage.

Accounting Partnership & Data Standardization (AARP)
- Lead the Tax-side partnership with Accounting's Audit Readiness Program, defining standard financial data requirements (GL, revenue reconciliation, balance sheet reports) needed for tax audits.
- Work with Reporting Central and GTD-Audit to build automated data pipelines and self-service capabilities, reducing manual data compilation time.
- Establish proper routing protocols so audit data inquiries flow to the right teams efficiently.

Future-State Scalability & Program Governance
- Identify and launch new workstreams that address emerging audit readiness gaps—including AI-powered validation, self-service data access, and proactive readiness metrics.
- Establish central routing and tracking for audit defects discovered across teams, eliminating duplication of effort.
- Own monthly/quarterly Business Reviews with Tax leadership covering all program workstreams—progress, risks, metrics, and resource needs.
- Monitor execution across workstreams, ensure no overlaps or duplications, and report on progress against program goals.
