Description

At Amazon, the Leadership Principle "Strive to be Earth's Best Employer" challenges us to create "a safer, more productive, higher performing, more diverse, and more just work environment," and reinforces that nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our teams. At Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) we strive to do just this. We work tirelessly to ensure we have the appropriate strategy, technology, and attitude to be successful. We also understand that people are at the center of safety and look to invest in talent that shares in our passion for making our employees and partners lives better.

The WHS Data-Tech team is hiring a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our cross-functional organization. WHS Data-Tech delivers technology solutions and data insights that help reduce workplace risks and injuries at Amazon. Our technology landscape includes web applications built using native AWS technologies, device-software hybrid solutions leveraging generative AI, computer vision, sensors and IoT technologies, as well as comprehensive data infrastructure and analytics solutions.

This TPM role will lead cross-organizational workstreams spanning both data and technology initiatives for the WHS Organization. As a Technical Program Manager at WHS Data-Tech, you will partner closely with product, data engineering, software development, and data science teams to drive strategy implementation and execution. The role requires collaboration across Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Software Development teams to deliver optimal solutions through efficient resource allocation and technology utilization. You will create compelling business cases for project prioritization and investment decisions, proactively assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, navigate tradeoffs, and balance business needs against technical constraints.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead and manage cross-functional programs and projects from inception to completion across multiple engineering teams (data engineering, software development, and data science), ensuring delivery of high-quality, efficient, secure, testable, and maintainable solutions with minimal defects
- Own program status communication by consistently delivering clear and concise summaries to leadership and management teams, effectively answering detailed questions about program progress and outcomes
- Partner with technical teams to drive execution of strategic initiatives spanning data infrastructure, analytics solutions, AI/ML applications, and software products
- Proactively assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, navigate tradeoffs, and balance business needs against technical constraints across both data and technology workstreams
- Transform raw thoughts and complex technical concepts into clear, consistent, and accurate technical documentation and direction
- Improve team processes, metrics, and operational efficiencies to unblock delivery, accelerate innovation, reduce costs, and enhance quality
- Develop compelling business cases for project prioritization and investment decisions, in pursuit of roadmap development
- Partner with data engineering, business intelligence, and software development managers to secure resources, scope engineering efforts, set project priorities and milestones, and drive delivery to meet program goals and deadlines
- Coordinate across technical domains including data pipelines, analytics platforms, generative AI solutions, computer vision applications, and web/mobile technologies
