AWS Infrastructure Services owns and operates global data center facilities that require skilled maintenance engineers to ensure continuous operations. We're expanding our team to include Mechanical Service Engineers who will be responsible for critical infrastructure maintenance and operations. This position will serve as the primary technical resource for mechanical and HVAC systems maintenance within AWS data centers in India. The role requires hands-on management of mechanical infrastructure, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response. The position will require 24x7 on-call support and rotational shifts (need basis general shift).
Key job responsibilities
Key job responsibilities Following are the primary responsibilities (but not limited to) of the Mechanical Service Engineer:
HVAC Systems & Mechanical Operations: Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment including DX units, Split AC systems, Ductable AC units, VRF systems, Exhaust fans, and DAHUs· Manage Chilled Water Systems including Chillers, Pumps, Motorized valves, Dampers and actuators, Chemical dosing systems, and Make-up tank systems· Maintain Fire Safety Systems including hydrant systems, sprinkler systems, and emergency response equipment· Perform Generator Systems maintenance including A-check, B-check, C-check and D-check· Conduct non-destructive testing including Thermography, Eddy current test, and Ultrasonic Testing· Ensure personnel safety and infrastructure protection through risk management protocols· Comply with all safety regulations and standards· Coordinate with vendors for spare parts and support procurement processes· Facilitate technical training and manage work order approvals. Planning & Documentation: Prepare and manage 52-week preventive maintenance calendars· Develop and update MOPs and SOPs· Create detailed equipment checklists· Track observations and implement cost-saving innovations· Execute cluster-level equipment maintenance· Document and report equipment observations· Create corrective work orders as needed· Coordinate with EAM team for scope/process changes. Inventory Management: Conduct internal spares audits· Ensure adequate spare parts availability· Monitor and maintain EAM metrics
A day in the life
In day today scale, you will be involved in:
• Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility MEP management.
• Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to make sure uptime is maintained
• Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
• Performance and oversight of maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.
• Work schedule changes depending on specific site needs. Shifts can be up to 12-hours and may rotate on a predefined schedule. Some locations have on-call rotations.
