Logistics Process Improvement Specialist, Data Center Logistics
Amazon
DESCRIPTION
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
We’re looking for a Logistics Process Improvement Specialist to streamline, optimize and elevate our operations. Using LEAN principles and data-driven insights, you’ll uncover inefficiencies, design better workflows and deliver measurable results for our Data Center logistics team.
Key job responsibilities
As a Logistics Process Improvement Specialist, you will lead targeted process improvement projects across our Data Center logistics operations, applying LEAN, Kaizen and other operational excellence tools to deliver measurable results. You will map current workflows, identify bottlenecks and partner with operations teams to design and implement future-state processes that reduce waste, shorten cycle times, and improve accuracy.
You will work hands-on with logistics teams to pilot and roll out process changes, ensuring adoption through clear documentation, training, and KPI tracking. Using both observational analysis and operational data, you will monitor results post-implementation, adjusting approaches to ensure sustained gains.
Alongside process improvement work, you will support day-to-day logistics, such as managing and maintaining accurate inventory and parts checkouts as needed for our internal customers. Your responsibilities will also include tasks such as arranging, scheduling and supporting shipments across sites and other locations, unpacking boxes and verifying contents. Lastly, you will be expected to maintain a clean environment, orderliness and safety in all workspaces.
Your role will involve collaborating closely with inventory and transportation teams, as well as data analysts, to connect process changes with measurable performance improvements. You’ll also contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by coaching colleagues on LEAN concepts and encouraging problem-solving at every level of the operation.
This position also involves occasional trips across the cluster to support other sites and lifting materials up to 18kg (with support from teammates available).
A day in the life
We provide items to our customers, safely, accurately and in a timely manner.
You will work in a diverse, international and friendly environment.
· 9:00-18:00 work on business days.
· Work will be conducted onsite in an office/storage room area with the occasional need to work outside for shipment support.
· Mostly work in a quiet environment, but sometimes in a 75db noise level environment (comparable to industrial grade fan).
· Work with electronic parts.
· On-call duties required after normal working hours, rotating by team members on a weekly basis.
