DESCRIPTION

The Cluster Leader is responsible for one or more Amazon Data Centers within a particular region. It is a Data Center Operations senior manager role and has managerial responsibility for safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency and cost. This position is located in Inzai in Chiba prefecture.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities
- Hiring, managing and developing the operations team including data center operations managers, engineering operations managers, logistics operations managers and their teams
- Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency and cost
- Planning and executing the Data Center Operations component of new datacenter and Colocation (Colo) expansions
- Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon datacenters to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and change management
- Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management and incident resolution
- Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods and tools


A day in the life
You review key performance metrics and cluster dashboards, do one on one checks with direct reports to provide guidance and remove blockers, hold weekly team status and strategic planning meetings, and hold strategic work sessions on business planning, resource allocation, and process optimization. You attend executive leadership meetings to align on organizational objectives, stakeholder management meetings with design engineers, data center planning, construction and commissioning teams, and global program owners. You review and approve team deliverables and provide strategic direction. You focus time for strategic initiatives, budget management, and performance reviews.
