DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a dynamic and analytical Tax Manager, Data and Operations to support our Tax Controversy and Advertising teams with a focus on data management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive operational excellence through data governance ad system integration whilst partnering with key stakeholders across Tax, Business and Technology teams.

The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment with experience in process improvement, collaboration with various stakeholders (within and outside of tax), and managing the progression of projects. Successful candidates will have a background in Tax and experience with project management combined with the in-depth ability to work with large data sets and identify technology solutions to automate current processes.

This role will operate with independence and be expected to demonstrate an ability to collaborate and problem solve.


Key job responsibilities
• Extract and analyze large datasets using SQL, investigating and troubleshooting complex data issues
• Translate technical findings into clear communications for leadership, tax authorities, and stakeholders
• Design and implement data governance frameworks and validation protocols
• Build and maintain comprehensive dashboards and tracking systems
• Evaluate and implement technical tools and solutions, including integration of enterprise systems
• Support development of audit data frameworks
• Create and maintain project roadmaps and completion strategies
• Curate and implement solutions for existing audit practices
• Drive consensus and approvals for various tax projects and initiatives
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Drive process improvements by conducting deep-dive analyses of current workflows to identify critical dependencies
• Leverage Gen AI and emerging technologies to create operational efficiencies and standardization
• Develop and implement plans to remediate technical debt and manual processes
• Evaluate and implement technical tools and solutions, including integration of enterprise systems


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of experience in technology solutions
- 5+ years of experience in program or project management
- 5+ years of experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
- CPA, PMP or similar certification
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvement
- Experience in many of the following disciplines is desired: tax compliance and reporting, tax planning, external or internal audit, tax controversy, and technology solutions implementation
- Experience at Amazon or a similarly complex, diverse, dynamic global organization
- Verbal and written communication skills are a must
- High aptitude for technology and a preference for using solutions like Salesforce, Quicksights, PowerBI, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $80,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $172,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
